Brief 1 Research (Bias in Cable News)

"Americans believe that 62% of news they consume on TV, newspapers and on the radio is biased, according to a survey from the Knight Foundation and Gallup." (www.businessinsider.com)

So, what is biased News? Biased news is the perceived bias of journalists and news producers within the mass media in the selection of man events and stories that are reported and how they are covered. But is the media really biased or is it the viewers? Well, this can be up for debate. There are 3 types of bias that can be distinguished: Information bias, Selection Bias and Confounding (www.nchi.nlm.nih.gov) According to Nchi "An epidemiological study can be affected by the random error and systematic error. Random error reflects a problem or precision in assessing a given exposure disease relationship and can be reduced by increasing the sample size. On the other hand, systematic error or bias reflects a problem of the validity of the study and arises because of any investigator." For my example, I used Fox news. Fox News has been described as providing conservative political positions, such as Republican and President Donald J. Trump. Although, most republicans feel that wall street and Fox are in fact UnBiased. Democrats feel this statement isn't true and in fact, Fox was a tie for #1 most Biased news stations. Our President tweeted "Enemy of the people!" as he referred to The New York Times
Next, I will List the most biased cable news stations(www.businessinsider.com)

Now, do you think the media can shape others and their views? "Bias News occurs when the US media systematically skews information such as reporting news in a way that conflicts with standards of professional journalism or promoting a political agenda." The majority of the US population feels that the media in some form or another can be biased to one's beliefs, religions, etc. Not only with politics is the media biased covering certain situations and stories can be to the medias disadvantage. I feel as media analyst we have to do better with giving the correct information out.
