brief 2 Alexus Flannigan Supermarket Tabloids

       Brief 2
           Research (Supermarket Tabloids)
For my brief, I decided to dive head in with the following questions: "What are Tabloids, Do tabloids lie, and Lastly, Why do they exist?
The definition of a "Supermarket Tabloid is a newspaper sold in supermarkets that contain reports about famous people's private lives or other things that happened that are often hard to believe. Newspapers, Magazines, back copies, broadsheets, and brochures." www.dictionary.cambridge.org
Often times these tabloids are sold in many stores, for instance, Walmart, Dollar Generals, and Brookshire's. I would see many tabloids "Exposing the Truths of celebrity lives" and thinking to myself "oh brother how can people believe this?" One Headline in Brookshires said "Megan Twins! its a boy-and A Girl! -Harry, we're naming the girl Diana." Many times these stories are not credible.

Next, Do tabloids lie? According to www.reddit.com which is a community where you can discuss any topic and this specific topic surrounded around the question do tabloids lie? Many people argued the fact that these tabloids are in fact true because you are simply asking a question. Although you have to be very careful with these sticky topics it is easy to receive a hefty lawsuit for framing celebrities. These tabloids are assumptions and full of gossip about having the "Know" about celebrities and their lavish lifestyles.

So, Why do tabloids exist? Because the human race is quite nosy! Kidding people want to read them and this also creates publicity for the publishers and publicity = money. These tabloids can get large profits, there are numerous tabloids. The Weekly World News, The Sun, Daily Express, New York Post, Daily Record, The Star, Chicago Sun-Times and many more.

1. National Enquirer
2. Star Magazine
3. Weekly World News
4. New York Post
5. The Mirror
6. The Sun
7. New York Daily News
8. Globe magazine
9. Tabloid
10. Mega Star
Currently on the National Enquirer, "Phil Spector's losing his hair and his mind!" These Tabloids have all of the "Tea" a term young adults use today for the word "gossip." This doesn't mean these articles are always true.

In conclusion, tabloids have been around for many years and are very popular. I don't see them going away anytime soon.
